Born in the year 1968 and raised in Mumbai (India), Ravi Iyer belongs to an academically and musically inclined Tamil Brahmin family. At the tender age of 7, his first stint with music began with learning the percussion instrument Tabla for a duration of 5 years. Later on, Ravi's instant calling to learn the guitar sparked after he was introduced to the music of Deep Purple & Ritchie Blackmore, and there's been no looking back since then. Ravi then decided to learn guitar music from then on.
1980's, a period when academics were considered to be at the helm, pursuing music as a professional seemed like a fantasy. Being more of an introvert, having faced a roller-coaster of ups and downs in his life, Ravi Iyer, today has definitely carved a place for himself as an independent artist, performer, composer, and music educator.
Having performed innumerable live concerts since the '90s in the rock genre and later dabbling with his musical capabilities in the fusion genres, he has also performed and collaborated with various legendary artists in the music industry today.
Ravi's live album 'Bends' was nominated for the best fusion album at GIMA AWARDS 2013 and his recent studio album viz; 'Raga Punch' won the best recorded and mixed album at IRAA AWARDS, Palm 2016.
In his spare time, he regularly shares his blogs, delves in the psychological aspects of various ideologies, travels (an ardent biker that he is), and yearns to contribute/collaborate in every other creative art form.
